The 2012 United States Formula One race will be held November 16-18 at the Circuit of the Americas, just southeast of Austin, Texas.
Today’s topping out ceremony at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) was a big milestone for the multi-million dollar project’s organizers. Not only did it signify that the highest construction beam had been placed on the paddock building, it was also a recognition of the 500+ workers who have been moving dirt around the clock. In addition, the ceremony presented the track’s newest investor – billionaire John Paul DeJoria, most often associated with the Patrón Tequila and Paul Mitchell haircare companies. But the family name has already made its mark on motorsports. Tequila Patrón, of the Patrón Spirits family, is the title sponsor for the American Le Mans Series, which happens to be another contender for a COTA race series. DeJoria’s daughter, Alexis, is the driver of the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team.
After the ceremony, new COTA seating diagrams, renderings, and prices were emailed to the circuit’s website subscribers, which quickly fueled conversation on social media, namely Twitter and Facebook.

Prices can be seen on the official website of the Circuit of the Americas. It’s important to note that these seating prices and diagrams are for Personal Seat Licenses, not the General Admission tickets which will go on sale in early summer – likely in June. The “PSL” is a contract to hold your seat for 15 years, and also requires a purchase of a season ticket. Benefits also include first refusal for events at COTA’s massive entertainment amphitheater and on-site parking (more on that to come). These new images are a great way to get an idea of how vast this future track will be – the extremely elevated turn 1, the tight hairpin, views of the Austin skyline – even if you don’t plan on buying into a PSL, the track will be worth a visit.
