The last few days in Austin have been peppered with Formula One events – many open to the public, some private, and all part of the incredible media machine that is Red Bull. Keep reading for more links to photos, videos, and news about this weekend’s promotions.
Though the official Red Bull statement about the “demo” in Austin said that it wouldn’t go on because of feasibility issues, it did indeed happen for the local press. Some persistent fans showed up to the “closed” set, and were able to watch the engineers bring the car to Congress avenue, assemble it, and then see David Coulthard pull a few donuts in front of the Capitol building. The next morning, the crew went out to Elroy on the still-under-construction USGP track and tore it up in the best possible way:

Red Bull plans to release the product of their long weekend in Austin to their websites and various social media outlets in Mid-September, according to the Statesman’s article.
Much thanks to Red Bull, W Hotel, and David Coulthard for bringing the excitement of the US Grand Prix to Austin’s streets. Next time, we hope that there will be a much larger event that the public is able to attend – certainly this won’t be the last time we’ll see Formula One events before next year’s race.
