Round Rock is about 20-25 minutes north of Downtown Austin. The name comes from a flat rock in the middle of Brushy Creek, which was later used as a low-water crossing for the Chisholm Trail. There is plenty to see in this rapidly growing city – the self-proclaimed Sports Capital of Texas has the minor-league baseball’s Dell Diamond, or you could spend a day shopping at the new Round Rock Outlet Mall. Downtown Round Rock has a charming main street with historical buildings, dining, and more shopping.
