Austin’s Grand Prix track is named Circuit of the Americas (COTA), which highlights the central location of Austin within North, Central, and South America. COTA “signifies that the center will be a premier destination in the Western hemisphere where business leaders, entertainers and sports fans come to see world-class performances.” The circuit began by hosting the 2012 Formula One race, considered by many as the “pinnacle of motorsport.” In addition, American Le Mans and Australian V8 Supercars raced at COTA beginning in 2013. F1 race weekends host 3 days of on-track action, sometimes including a vintage car race by the Historic Grand Prix. The address of the Circuit of the Americas is 9201 Circuit of the Americas Boulevard, Austin, TX.

Distance guide: COTA to Airport: ~5 miles | COTA to Downtown Austin: ~14 miles | COTA to San Antonio: ~80 miles | COTA to Houston: ~155 miles | COTA to Dallas: ~210 miles | COTA to closest hotel: ~5 miles | COTA to highway I-35: ~8 miles | COTA to the beach (Port Aransas): ~185 miles
Various forms of racing, such as Formula One, American Le Mans, MotoGP, Australian V8 Supercars, High Performance Drivers Education, and human-powered races have visited COTA. See for schedule details. During other weekends, COTA can support:

  • Concerts – Outdoor live music in the Grand Plaza
  • Conference, banquet, and business centers
  • A Trauma Center for training medical students and emergency care workers
  • Student centers, in partnership with Texas A&M University, St. Edward’s University, Huston-Tillotson University and Del Valle ISD (more schools may join later)
  • Future proposed amenities include a driving/riding experience, a motorsports driving club, kart track, grand plaza event center and tower, and a trackside recreational vehicle park.
  • Running/Biking races, which are usually held in Downtown Austin, so that the city’s roads won’t need to be blockaded as often.
